The 14th Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche and Karma Reyjung Yolmopa Rinpoche was met in 2000, in an initiative of the Venerable Kusho Chhechu Rinpoche, the head lama of Sangey Chholing Monastery in Kathmandu. On that meeting, Karma Reyjung Yolmopa Rinpoche offered some important documents, including the travelogue of the 6th Shamarpa, birth certificate of the 8th Shamarpa in Yolmo and letter of recognition offered to Lamas of Nedongpa/Debneydong Dynasty by the 13th Karmapa and 10th Shamarpa.
On that occasion, the 14th Shamar Rinpoche wrote the first official letter to Karma Reyjung Rinpoche, the head lama of Yolmo Kanying Shedrubling Monastery to participate in the Kargyud Monlam, held in Bodhgaya, India. In this way, Lamas and monks from Yolmo Kanying Shedrubling Monastery took part in the Kargyud Monlam for the first time in Bodhgaya in the leadership of Karma Reyjung Rinpoche. During the Monlam, Reyjung Rinpoche introduced the 14th Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche to the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Thinley Thaye Dorje.
After the 10th Shamarpa, the 4th main lama Karma Reyjung of Yolmo Kanying Shedrubling Monastery is the first person that established the relationship between the 14th Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche and the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Thinley Thaye Dorje.
