Gochhangling Monastery, which belongs to Kargyud traditions is one of the historical monasteries of Yolmo region. The four sons and seven grandchildren of Karma Chhosang, the main throne holding lama of Gochhanling Monastery have been preserving the royal tradition of Yarlung Dynasty along with the culture, religious tradition, and language of this region.At present, this monastery is registered under the Archaeological Department and Buddhist Philosophy Promotion and Monastery Development Committee of Nepal government. Previously, the Malla King and Shah Dynasty had also contributed to the preservation and promotion of this monastery by providing Laal-Mohar, Tamrapatra, Sanadpatra, and land in Yolmo region. Rigsang Gyalpo Yolmopa Rinpoche (1822-1911) was the founder and throne holding lama of Yolmo Kanying Shedrubling Monastery.

Ven. Acharya Lama Dawa Sangbo Yolmopa
6th Chief Lama of the Monastery
After the death of Ven. Lopon Lama Pema Dorje Yolmopa, Acharya Lama Dawa Sangbo Yolmopa has been appointed as the 6th throne holding lama of this monastery according to the Yarlung Dynasty tradition. Acharya has completed his MA (2011-2013) in Himalayan Buddhism from Lumbini College of Buddhism and Himalayan Studies (affiliated with Lumbini Buddhist University).
