

Gochhangling Monastery, which belongs to Kargyud traditions is one of the historical monasteries of Yolmo region. The four sons and seven grandchildren of Karma Chhosang, the main throne holding lama of Gochhanling Monastery have been preserving the royal tradition of Yarlung Dynasty along with the culture, religious tradition, and language of this region. At present, this monastery is registered under the Archaeological Department and Buddhist Philosophy Promotion and Monastery Development Committee of Nepal government. Previously, the Malla King and Shah Dynasty had also contributed to the preservation and promotion of this monastery by providing Laal-Mohar, Tamrapatra, Sanadpatra, and land in Yolmo region.
Rigsang Gyalpo Yolmopa Rinpoche (1822-1911) was the founder and throne holding lama of Yolmo Kanying Shedrubling Monastery. He was a progeny of Venerable Karma Chhosang Rinpoche (descendant of Yarlung Dynasty and throne holding lama of Gochhangling Monastery). Rigsang Rinpoche founded Yolmo Kanying Shedrubling Monastery (situated at Jaden, Baaskharka-7, Yolmo) in 1840 AD. This monastery has statues of Vajradhara in the middle, Shakyamuni Buddha at right side and statue of Padmasambhava at the left side.
This monastery was completely renovated in 1978 by the 4th throne holding Lama Karma Reyjung Yolmopa Rinpoche. The successive throne holding lamas of this monastery are Venerable Lama Rigsang Gyalpo, Lama Tenzin, Lama Bujung, Lama Karma Reyjung Yolmopa Rinpoche and Lopon Rinpoche Lama Pema Dorje Yolmopa respectively. At present, Acharya Lama Dawa Sangbo Yolmopa is the 6th throne holding lama of this monastery.
