Karmapa Shamarnag Association Kathmandu, Nepal
Y olmo Kanying Shedup Ling Monastery was established in 1840 AD by H.E, Lama Rigsang Gyalpo Yolmopa Rinpoche, the descendant of Gangra’s first Tibetan King Nyatri Tsenpo of Yarlung Dynasty (Nedongpa/ Deb Nyetong). Tathagata Gautam Buddha had foretold a prophecy about this historically and religiously sacred place in Avatamsaka Sutra. It is found in the history that the main religious guru of this lineage is 6th Shamarpa and reincarnation (birth) of eighth Shamarpa also took place in this lineage.
Likewise, H.H the 13th Gyalwang Karmapa Dhudul Dorje had recognized Dogen Chhokyi Gyalpo as the emanation of Ngagchhangpa Karma Guru Rinpoche, the father of the 8th Shamarpa, Palchen Chhokyi Dondup. Similarly, H.H 10th Shamarpa certified Ven. Karma Tenzin as the 3rd emanation body of (great scholar) Khendup Chenpo Karma Lobsang. Thus, recognition and certification of such great religious guru who belong to Yarlung dynasty and Yolmo region, had been done by such supreme gurus.
Yolmopa and Ngedongpa Dynasty of Yolmo region, have the historical relationship with Karmapa and Shamarpa from primordial time. The contemporaneous chief lama of Yolmo Kanying Shedup Ling Monastery, Ven. Karma Rejung Yolmopa Rinpoche had rejuvenated that historical relationship after meeting with H.H. the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Thinley Thaye Dorje and H.H. the 14th Kunzig Shamar Rinpoche, Mipham Chokyi Lodro in 2000.
Unfortunately, the devastating earthquake, struck on April 25th and 26th, 2015, followed by several aftershocks had completely shattered the entire building of the monastery and stupas, including other various religious heritages. H.H. the 14th Kunzig Shamarpa had vowed to build a university in Yolmo region with present Chief Lama of Yolmo Kanying Shedup Ling Monastery, Ven. Acharya Lama Dawa Sangbo Yolmopa. I’m elated to hear the goal of establishing monastery (Densa) for Karmapa and Shamarpa and it will be the fulfillment of Shamar Rinpoche’s vow.
Thus, I do anticipate that such significant activities will act as the bridge for the development of Buddhism in Yolmo region. I congratulate to the Chief Lama Ven. Acharya Dawa Sangbo Yolmopa for this great and sacred deed, and wish all his endeavors be accomplished without the obstacles, with the aspiration and dedication to Bhadanta Bhagawan Buddha. Bhavatu Sarva Mangalam!
